Antique textiles reformed.

Vintage fabrics assembled.
Patches of blue.

This piece is made from authentic Japanese boro textiles that I handpicked and restored in my Brooklyn studio. I spent over 240 hours stitching it all together, with slow, steady work that respects the fabric’s past and the craft behind it.
I used two deconstructed noragi vests and added patches from the mid-1800s to early 1900s, sourced from skilled Japanese textile dealers who specialize in historic fragments. The textures and patterns are raw and layered, telling quiet stories of daily life, wear, and repair.
It's my tribute to imperfection, time, and the beauty of things that are lived-in. Finished on premium Museo ALU-frame stretcher bars for a clean, museum-quality look that balances tradition with a modern edge.

Looking for a layer to take you into fall?
This one-of-one scarf is crafted from rare antique Japanese boro fabrics, including a deconstructed pair of traditional Japanese farmer pants (monpe) and a noragi vest. The indigo-dyed textiles, sourced from the late 1800s and early 1900s, show off beautiful, natural fading: deep blue, icy pale blue, and a unique yellowish patina that sets this piece apart.
Constrcuted from multiple layers and ully reversible, you get two looks in one:
One side is richly textured, featuring patchwork with a variety of blue hues, heavy repairs, and visible history (all carefully reinforced for everyday wear).
Flip it over for a more understated look with one bold patch.
Hand-stitched sashiko details run through both sides, sewn with indigo dyed thread. The scarf measures 9.5" by 54.5" and is about 1/4" thick with a generous width that makes it easy to style in different ways. You can drape it as a classic scarf or wear it as a backless open vest for a unique layered look.
Hand-sewn entirely by me in my Brooklyn studio, this scarf combines exceptional antique Japanese fabrics, dozens of hours of artisan stitching, and collector-grade design that's refined into a functional, collectible accessory.

One-of-a-kind antique Japanese Boro wall art - patched, repaired, assembled, and entirely hand sewn in my Brooklyn studio from many fragments and then stretched and edge wrapped onto Museo ALU-frame museum quality stretcher bars.
Beautiful variety of patches dating from the mid-late 1800s to early 1900s with contrasting, muted colors and a very satisfying amount of distress. This piece is a homage to the beauty of imperfection, the passage of time, and the signs that an object has been used and enjoyed in everyday life. The fragments used for this work were in poor condition with many holes and it's very fulfilling to have repaired and brought them together to be enjoyed anew. Sewn with antique homespun flax thread from the 1800s to ensure a harmonious blending.
Measures 54.5" x 54.5" 2".
