Antique Japanese Boro Patchwork Distressed Fiber Art

Superb antique Japanese Boro wall art - patched, repaired, assembled, and entirely hand sewn in my Brooklyn studio from many fragments and then stretched and edge wrapped onto Museo ALU-frame museum quality stretcher bars.

Beautiful variety of patches dating from the mid-late 1800s to early 1900s with contrasting, muted colors and a very satisfying amount of distress. The fragments used for this work were in poor condition with many holes and it's very fulfilling to have repaired and brought them together to be enjoyed anew. Sewn with antique homespun flax thread from the 1800s to ensure a harmonious blending.
